Nina takes first steps!

Well, after much anticipation and waiting, Nina has taken her first
steps! Here is a video of her walking about 4-5 steps. She still
doesn't bend her knees but she is certainly trying to come up with her
own style. She took the first steps last week at Katie and Matt's house
after watching her "crush" Nick walk across the room. Not to be outdone
by a younger man (he's 11 months) Nina decided to up and walk right
then and there. Now the trouble will start! video

Nina's first cornrows!

Nina sported her first cornrows this week thanks to a patient tutoring session from my dear friend Naomi. Nina seemed proud of her new "do" and I was in awe of Naomi's speed but proud of my own first attempts, even though it probably would have taken me at least 4 hours to do all of Nina's hair:) . I hope to one day be able to accomplish this task in under 2 hours but we'll see! Anyway, here is Naomi, Ruth and Nina after the hairstyling session. Nina is wearing her cornbread fed onesie from cocoababies.com Also a favorite, of course.

Nina and Ruth...pretty in pink

Nina and her friend Ruth had a great time hanging out the other day at Ruth's house. There were a few episodes of wrestle mania 5 since neither of them knows another way to work out differences. It turns out that 1 and 2 year olds just always want what the other has, even when they are the exact same thing. Nina holds her own though. Ruth is a good teacher about how to handle siblings when she has one someday. They are very cute together and seem to enjoy each other's companies. Naomi (Ruth's mom) and I are sure that they will be wreaking havoc together as teenagers. Oh brother...I can't think about that without needing a margarita close by.

Baby in a bag!

Nina had so much fun playing in a grocery bag. It's the little things in life that are important, obviously. If only we could keep the simple fun like that in our lives on a daily basis and forget all the rest of the stuff that tries to creep in. Babies are a great lesson in the joy of living in the moment and making the most of what we've got:)
